"Loon Dancer"

I created this bronze Loon Dancer sculpture to celebrate the Ceremonial Wolf Dance. The Loon Dancer was very important. Like the loon with its unforgettable song one hears in the wild, he is the one that calls the Wolf Dancers out for the last ceremonial dances. He is the one that plays the Qaluqak or Ceremonial Box Drum.
The Wolf Dance was the final ceremonial dance series. Social dancing could go on much longer. These dances occur after the winter solstice, when the sun starts appearing on the horizon.
